About

One of the questions that we’re often asked is ‘Can you tell me what’s best practice?’

With over 20 years experience in product management and marketing across a range of Telecoms, Software and IT companies we’ve come across lots of things that are supposed to be best practice and our answer to this question is ‘it depends’.

In our view, a one-size-fits-all approach, doesn’t work. Best practice will vary depending on the market you’re in, the structure and size of your company or where your product is in its lifecycle.

Yet, some things are obviously best practice. Paraphrasing a famous quote by Justice Potter Stewart in the United States Supreme Court ‘pornography is hard to define but I know it when I see it’. And, our approach when delivering training is to provide a kit-bag of the best practice tools, techniques and checklists we’ve come across over the past 20 years.

Other areas are more open to debate and this blog gives us the opportunity to ‘get on our soapbox’ and talk about what we think is important in product management.
